In the Odyssey, by Homer, Odysseus is a strong leader

Some people argue Odysseus is a weak leader. On Odysseus and his crew's way home from ten years at war, they arrived at the Land of the Cyclops. After Odysseus asked the Cyclops for help, he he ate two of Odysseus’ men. Odysseus, who told him his name was “Nohbdy”, took his eye out and escapes with the rest of his crew. As they leave, Odysseus can’t help but to boast. Odyssey shouts back to Cyclops “tell him Odysseus, raider of cities, took your eye”. Boasting and revealing his name, the Cyclops now can put a curse on him and his crew. If Odysseus didn’t not say his true identity, he would just be cursing nobody. Furthermore, on his way back from the Sirens, their next stop was Scylla and Charybdis. Scylla is a sea monster who is guaranteed to eat six men, while Charybdis is a whirlpool where there is a 99% chance all die. Odysseus had chosen to go to Scylla without asking or informing his men.
