The first concert we attended took place on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 9:30 p.m. at the Baked Potato in North Hollywood, regulars of that venue have nicknamed it The Spud. The Spud is operated by musician/composer Don Randi. The concert we saw was Jeff Lorber Fusion band. Lorber played music from his Hacienda album, he played Hacienda Documentary, The Step, Fab Gear, Chinese Medicinal Herbs. Lorber’s music has various rythums such as traditional jazz, R&B, funk, and rock. Jeff Lorber has been known to use various keyboard instruments. He has used a Analog Synthesizers, Fender Rhodes Piano, Minimoog, and Sequential Circuit’s Prophet 5. In the past, Lorber has worked with music artists such as Karyn White, Herbie Hancock, Kenny G. The typical band players for Lorber is himself on keyboard, a drummer, base player, and someone playing the saxophone. I was worked the venue was too small, that the music was going to be too loud and in our face. However, the set up was good, it felt intimate yet we were not nose to nose with the band. The band played well together, each of them played solo pieces, they all seemed to be very well rehearsed, I noticed that when they played a number the saxophonist wrote, he gave the others cues when to wrap up, the others followed along well.
The second concert we attended took place on Sunday November 30, 2014. We attended the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra performance at the Walt Disney Concert
