The film Paradise Now, depicts the fight of young devout Muslim Palestinian men and their fight to take back Palestine. The film depicts these qualities through the plan to attack the Tel Aviv airport and the desire to take back Palestine from the Israeli occupation. This coordination of attacks can be seen as the same fight as the PLO though it was never confirmed in the film. The phenomenon of Palestinians refusing to live with and among Israelis was made clear due to resentment and cultural differences. One example was the story of Khaled’s father and how the Israeli soldiers broke one of his legs to leave him with an everlasting limp. The incident of the First Intifada inflicted the desire for revenge which translated to their search for martyrdom. With stories of abuse and oppression by the Israeli soldiers it is no wonder why the Palestinians want them off of their land. This was important in the film to show Khaled and Said as young men who just want to make a difference and fight for their people. Both of them were humans with families who relied on them for financial support. Khaled in his final video message to his family even told his mother where to buy cheap filters, since he forgot to mention his knowledge before he said good-bye. Khaled and Said …show more content…
Yet Said, ended his future when he pulled the string to the bomb he was wearing on his chest. The reasoning however for his death was not completely in the mindset of the performing the task for his people. Said pulled the string to the bomb for his own selfish purposes which hurt the argument of only being human and doing what is right for Palestinians. Said knew his father was collaborator who was executed when he was ten, that is why he pulled the string to the bomb. Said was making up for his father’s actions which is not what the film or their operation was
