Many people may think about the pass/fail system will help students get more attention to the knowledge that they gain from their classes. Because the pass/fail system do not give them a letter grade, they just need to get a C above to pass a course. However, I do not think this is a better grading system because the pass/fail system will make students become lazy when they have easy courses, and it is difficult for them to pass when they have challenging courses. To begin, the pass/fail system does not give students a letter grade, which will make students put less effort on their study. The letter-grade system gives students a grade, then they will know what level they are at, and how much effort they need to put into the course. For example, a student has a biology course test, and the student got a B. In pass/fail system, there is no A or B. In fact, if …show more content…
As in the letter grade system, a student can pass a course with a D. However, in the pass/fail system, a student must pass a course at least a C on his course work. Many students have some courses that they are good at. In those courses, they may try their best to learn, research, and do anything to improve themselves. However, they are just weak at those courses. In this case, the pass/fail system will be challenging for the students because it will fail them easily. I am not good at math, but I have to take some math courses to get my degree. One time, I had a Calculus course. I listened to the instructor carefully and took notes. I asked questions and went to the office hours to get more assistance. I also asked other fellow students for help. Although I studied hard, I just got a D on that course. In the letter grade system, I passed the course. However, I failed the course in the pass/fail system. As a result, the pass/fail system may be difficult for students to pass the course if the course is
