Performance enhancing drugs have affected the had effects and consequences of the lives of many athletes. Alex Rodriguez is one of those athletes have been affected by steroids. Alex Rodriguez signed a massive contract with the New York Yankees for 275 million dollars on a 10 year contract (“Release”). He earned every penny of his contract until the postseason. Alex Rodriguez was known not to play too well in the playoffs, and this stayed true when the playoff came around. He did not play up to his contract, and this caused the fans to hate on him. Tyson was a phenomenal track and field athlete that deserved to win. Tyson Gay was a 4 x 100 meter sprinter for the United States has been banned from the Olympics because he was tested positive for an anabolic steroid last summer in London (“Banned”). This was not the first time Tyson Gay used performance enhancing drugs, Gay did confess of using steroids, and he had been using them since July 15, 2012 (“Banned”). “ It’s a bit like I think parents must feel when they have a kid who does something bad and lets them down. I feel like he let me down and he let the sport down.” (“Banned”). Many people respect Tyson Gay for who he was as a person and how hard he tries, one of those people was Usain Bolt. Bolt said that he admired tyson and his work effort and bolt was let down when he heard that he used steroids, there are many other people that feel the way (“Banned”). After Tyson Gay announced that he was using performance enhancing drugs, this could lead to many of his fans to use steroids and it causes a chain reaction. Tyson Gay was also affected in a big way by performance enhancing drugs. Tyson Gay used testosterone and human growth hormones to help enhance his performance on the track and field. These drugs makes an ordinary human being to regulate body composition, body fluids, muscle and bone growth, sugar and fat metabolism, and possibly heart function (“Doping”). These drugs are very bad for athletes to do because a person that takes steroids on a regular day basis, the effects of that person to stop would be loss of the strength and ,progress that the person has made, and other long term effects (“Doping”). Tyson Gay did not have it easy on his part either.
