In 1991 my uncle was diagnosed with AIDs. I had lived with him in Florida for some time shortly before this diagnosis. When I got off the plane I could see that there was something very wrong. He was extremely gaunt and his movements were slowed. Just a couple years prior he had a good amount of muscle, especially in his legs. Gilbert, after getting help from Teen challenge for heroin addiction, decide to carry this 12 foot wood cross across America. Nonetheless I was surprised to see my personal hero in the state he was, I was worried for him. Gibbie ended up getting his truck driving license and started hauling furniture for American Van Lines. He then enlisted me to come with him and help him move furniture. I was 19 at this time
