Personal Narrative: The Day I Listen To My Horse

I don’t know about you, but I should really listen to my mom more. Hi, I’m Maddy! I am a 14 year old girl who loves riding and being around horses. Since I have been around horses my whole life, I tend to get a little bit too confident that I know everything and I can trust any horse what so ever! I am getting ready to take three Off the Track thoroughbreds ( ex race horses) named Jet, Dreamer, and Grannus to a show and I make a big mistake. Leaving three extremely clean horses in a pasture without halters(horse harness) and the gate open to thousands of wooded acres of trails is an extremely bad idea. She knows almost everything that has to do with anything horse. She has been teaching me everything about horses my whole life, but something’s I am very stubborn about. My mom has told me a thousand times to close the gates and to put the horses in their stalls. From now on, I am going to list and pay attention to her more. I have also been around horses my whole and I should have known better. I knew the whole time the gate should be closed but of course I was too lazy to do that. Also, I should know to trust my crazy horses that much. If one of them had got injured, we could have either had to pay extreme vet bills or even put my amazing horses down! I really should have listened to my mom and myself. Trying to let the horses have fun before the show was a good idea but I should have been more responsible. My mom is almost always correct about horses and I just need to understand that she can know more than me sometimes. I knew in my head that leaving the horses in the field was a bad idea and could result in some extremely bad things. There is something about being this age that makes you very over-confident and cocky. We all need to start listening and understanding ourselves and people around us way
