Born and raised in a Catholic family meant that we attended church service every Sunday. My primary education was at Christian-based schools where Bible study was a daily part of the curriculum. The commitment I exhibited in my faith was evident to my church, so I was one of a few girls in elementary school to be selected to participate in the Alter Girl Pilot Program. Entrusted with the Hostia for the Holy Communion during church service, was both a privilege and an honor, I did not take likely since it was the physical representation of the body of Christ Jesus.
