Sometimes in life we come across challenges that make you see how to face society. While we see many outside forces in society today we also see it numerous times in poetry. Although many readers of poems have seen that the influence of outside forces in the poems on being brought from Africa to America and Harlem are not discussed in society today.
In the poem on being brought from Africa to America historical period was a big factor of this time period which leads you to the enlightenment age of reason. In the poem historical period was a big deal because of what Phyllis Wheatley said "That their God, that there's a survivor too."( Phyllis Wheatley line 3) This phrase from the poem that said this weekly was a survivor from slavery. She was kidnapped and brought from Africa to America to be a slave. She was transported by a ship which this happen in the late 1700s. The author included this phrase in the text to demonstrate that time. It was not discussed in the late 1700s which caused a lot of damage to the person and others around society.

In addition the poet says “some of you are stable race with scornful eye"( Phyllis Wheatley line 5) reveals that race was a big factor because she was African but how do I work for the whites in the late 1700s which caused hard work for her. This demonstrates that racism was a big factor of outside forces because nobody ever realized how it was affecting her and others around society. Apparently, racism was not discussed because in the late 1700s it was affected by many people who didn't have any reasons to stand up for
