PHYSICAL DISCIPLINE:-
AN IN EFFECTIVE FORM OF CHILD DISCIPLINE
WHAT IS DISCIPLINE?
PROVERBS 22:6-“Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.”- THE HOLY BIBLE. The oxford dictionary define Discipline as the practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior, using punishment to correct disobedience.

There are different forms of discipline:-
1) Physical discipline which include spanking a child with an object, hitting slapping, kicking and or subjecting a child to hard labor which can eventually cause physical pain or injuries.

2) Verbal discipline which include threathening, abusing, using immoral languages or ridiculing

3) Consequences

4) Time-out

5) With-holding rewards

Children occasionally breaks rules and require punishments to learn from mistakes, but the method of parenting and discipline is not the same for all families. What works for one parent might not work for another and a punishment suitable for a toddler might not be as effective on a teenager.
Physical punishment has a huge effects on a child. Case study1: My dad used spanking on all my siblings when I was just a toodler but instead of them learning from their mistakes , they derieved ways not to feel much pain when they are been punished.

WHY PHYSICAL DISCIPLINE IS INAPPROPRIATE
The following reason is considered why physical discipline such as spanking is an inappropriate form of child discipline:
It is considered abused when used excessively and forcefully.
Should never be used on kids
Can affect the child’s psychological development
Can make the child an abusive and aggressive adult
Can make the child fearful and hateful of the adult
Can be a form of physical torture for the child with scars if excessive
Can make the child cagey and withdrawn
The temperament of the adults can further worsen the situation.
Spanking is necessary depending on the situation and the individuals involved.
Case Study: The popular king of pop, the late Michael Jackson was known to have hated the father due to the form of discipline the dad used when he was young
Note: Spanking is not necessarily wrong; it should be done mildly and not be used on underage.

OTHER FORMS OF DISCIPLINE
Spanking should not be the sole approaching when disciplining children; other approaches that motivate and inspire them to be creative and productive
