In 2004, in Milwaukee, 26-year-old Frank Jude was leaving a party one night with his friend, Lovell Harris, and were jumped by four off-duty officers. One of the four officers had felt that Jude looked like another male that stole his wallet. Jude was atrociously kicked and stabbed in the ear. Harris was cut in the face, but able to run away. The Federal Grand Jury Convicted 3 officers, but the 4th officer was exonerated. Regardless if the officer was on duty or off they had no right to beat Jude and Harris over a wallet that they were not sure he stole. In the past 3 years, our nation has experienced many tragic events like this one. This generation has looked at the government as an enemy. People are still livid at that fact that multiple innocent people of the same race have been killed by a policeman. People continue to protest until this day not only for black lives, but for all life because of this issue discrimination of people race, religion, and perception of authority.Yes, the law enforcement does have a civil duty and power to protect individuals, but some officers overuse their power in some situations. When prosecuting minorities sometimes officers over use their power and usually become more aggressive. A primary purpose of the Nation's Civil Rights Laws is to protect citizens from abuses by the government, including police misconduct.{ Police Misconduct and Civil Rights - Findlaw. This will impact future generations because the impression they will most likely have on law enforcement in the in the future will distinguish from prevailing events.It has come to point where younger generations is looking at law enforcement as the enemy, whereas not all officers aren’t bad. The media only shows the negative actions of officers and not the positive to only get the public attention. The media is the main key determining how people react and understand what’s going on in the world. When minorities only see law enforcement being aggressive with others on television or on social media they eventually start to fear and feel like they can’t depend on them in the time of need. If the media start showing the positive actions of other officers, it may changed the perception on how younger people feel about authority. If America could also just move on from past negative actions of the Islamic Nation and other religions, maybe others including police officers wouldn’t look at Muslims as terrorist like how some younger people look at law enforcement as the enemy.
