In today’s world, racism is affecting lives in more harmful ways than you could imagine. Police brutality has been a problem for a while, people of color are anxious to go out, afraid of being pulled over and or stopped by a police officer hoping nothing goes wrong. Thousands of lives are being lost and nothing seems to change. Racism in the justice system shows and teaches people how these types of situations happen, and will sadly continue to happen, even if there is a change in the system, racism will still be in the justice system because people will continue to be wrongfully accused, people will be murdered, and people’s lives will be affected. In the experiment, participants viewed a videotape of a violent arrest of an African American suspect by two police officers.” Peoples view on police officers changed after they saw the video, they believed the police officer killed the guy on ‘purpose’. When people saw the video of George Floyd they took to social media saying how they felt about this, and how there needs to be change, with this came protest on the streets, people breaking into stores, and putting things on fire, and vandalising police stations.
