Positive Command Situation Analysis

The United States Army like any large corporation has a duty to its employees to harvest a positive command climate. A positive command climate is the overall umbrella that affects attitudes, behaviors, productivity, loyalty, turnover and the list could go on and on. I feel that two of the most overlooked variables in someone’s job satisfaction are job involvement and Perceived Organizational Support (POS). For the majority of my military career, I had always worked with what is known as the traditional Army. Larger units, following strict military protocol on day to day missions and with very little room for junior member’s input or emphasis of being a freethinker. However, for a year and a half of my career, I had the opportunity to live and work with a small Army Special Operations team in the middle of Afghanistan. My job along with my team mate was to engage the women and children of the local area. Everyone had a specialty that they owned and executed with enthusiasm and precision. Additionally, as a collective team, decisions were made and there was an emphasis on teamwork. “Two are better than one because they have a good return for their labor.
