Of all the concepts from the text, the four that I found the most helpful was advance planning and preparation, learning about the system, developing supervisor intern relationships, and the performance evaluation.
The reason I found advance planning and preparation helpful was because it gave me tips on how to prepare for the practicum site. For instance, in the book it states that it is a good idea to visit the practicum site in advance before you start working there (Chiaferi & Griffin, 1997). Moreover, the book goes on to inform students that if you can meet some of the important people at your practicum in advance, such as, your supervisor it will only make your first day easier and help with the process. In addition, this part of the book was helpful because it even reassures the student, stating that, if we cannot visit our practicum site in advance do not be worried, because that is fairly normal (Chiaferi & Griffin, 1997).
