Every year, on the first Tuesday of November, voters reelect or replace politicians at all levels of the government from the President to members of Congress. Most of America’s elections take place in two stages, the primary and the general elections. Let’s take a deeper look at these. The primary elections are used to select candidates from a party to run for office. They may be closed, allowing only declared party members to vote, or open, enabling all voters to choose which party’s primary they wish to vote in without declaring any party affiliation.
