Unit 2 Promote professional development
The importance of professional knowledge and practice with in the role of a social care worker is so that they can be kept up to date with all the changes. Within the health care profession all staff must be proactive and focused in their roles, with an ever changing of legislation and minimum standards, it is important that training and the ways of working are kept up to date.
Each person within the team should been given an opportunity to develop further within the company, if this mean that they attend further training, then this should be part of the company’s policies and procedure. A company can only be as good as the staff they employ.

I have worked for Care North West for 6 years and most of the training that I have done to gain my management status I have Personally paid for myself. I know that my style of working is hand on as I am a kinaesthetic learner. this allows me to work at my own pace as well as working at home.
I have a Personal Development Plan this allows me to set out my goals whether they be short or long term goals. I have regular meeting with my manager to see if there is any advice and guidance that she can give me.
By having meeting with my manager we can review my progress and my PDP and to see if I am still on track or do I need any other support as i am going.
Edgar Schon, an influential writer on reflection, described reflection in two main ways:

reflection in action and reflection on action. Reflection on action is looking back after the event whilst reflection in action is happening during the event. To complicate matters there are different interpretations of reflection on action. Let’s now explore these terms.
Reflection inmeans “To think about what one is doing whilst one is doing it; it is typically stimulated by surprise, by something which puzzled the practitioner concerned”(Greenwood, 1993).
