Arm Bands
In 1968 multiple students protested against the war, by wearing black arm bands to school. Principals of each school banned the armbands and later suspended the students. Justice Abe Fortas and Justice Hugo Black of the Supreme Court disagree on the Tinker v. Des Moines Independent Community School case .They both have different arguments and perspectives about the case.
Justice Forbes agrees with the Tinkers. “A students rights therefore don’t embrace merely the classroom hours…he may express his opinions or controversial subjects”. He proves his point by stating court cases like “Keyishian V. Board of Regents” , “Burnside v. Byars, supra”, “Myers v. Nebraska”, and “Terminiello v. Chicago”.
