The Stanford Prison Experiment started of really good because no one was over stepping their boundaries however, it should had been stopped when the first mistake happen. When the guard hit the prisoner with the stick that is when the experiment should had been stopped or at least had that one person be removed from the experiment. Since the bystanders did not do anything at all to put a stop to what was happening the guards most likely got the impression that they can do what they want and the experiment will still continue.
