Abstract This paper examines the problems dogs are faced with inside puppy mills, including treating animals like trash, causing health problems the second the puppies are brought into this world, and how they treat the mothering dogs.

The signs of a puppy mill are unable to meet the parents, are sold online and are as easy as buying on Amazon, and cannot see the home and are sold too early in their life, mostly at 4 weeks(Lange, 2020, p. 2). “Overall, dog breeders can be divided into categories non-exclusively defined as purebred, familial, occasional and commercial breeders with the activity being the primary or secondary income”(Santos et al., 2021, p. 2). These sellers that don't take care of their animals think about the dogs as just a profit, therefore they lie to get business (Hettinger, 2022, p. 3). Puppy mills are a major problem that needs to be addressed around the world. What Puppy Mills do to Their Dogs Puppy mills make the dogs live their whole lives in small cramped cages, sometimes with other dogs. These cages are never cleaned and the animals are just stepping and rolling around in their own urine and feces. These dogs hardly get fresh water and food, so they end up eating their own feces.
