In 1995, the issue of racial profiling became a subject on the nation’s agenda. Racial profiling became an issue on the agenda due to many African Americans who were law-abiding citizens expressing their concerns in reference to their encounters with law enforcement. Many of the encounters left citizens feeling humiliated. African Americans established the saying “DWB (Driving while black)” (Crank, 2011). The targeting of individuals based on race is not limited to African Americans alone and has been a widely discussed issue for decades.
