I am writing to you because the qualifications that are required to exceed expectations in the first year of writing at the University of Illinois at Chicago are present in my portfolio, which is attached to this letter.

The portfolio enclosed contains my self-evaluation over the course of the semester. This evaluation explains how my writing has improved after each writing project through the challenges that were present. The first challenge mentioned was removing past habits, which was my tendency to create blanket statements that made my writing vague.
