Santayana once said, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” (The Life of Reason: Reason in Common Sense. Scribner’s, 1905: 284) Throughout history, cultures have repeatedly brought about their own individual “witch” hunts. Arthur Miller, the author of The Crucible, related the Salem Witch Trials with the idea of McCarthyism, which he was experiencing at the time. While reading about the similarities of the two hunts, it gave me perspective on a modern-day hunt; in the news recently Robert Mueller, an American lawyer and civil servant, has accused thirteen Russians in the case of US election tampering.
