Of the two readings pieces I found the second piece, Shifting Contexts: Lessons from Integrating Black, Gender, and African Diaspora Studies by Beverly Guy-Sheftall to be the most intriguing. She touches in several topics individually, which to a certain extent are connected to one another. One point Sheftall makes is that, "Examination of the conjugal house by Western Scholars focus only on women's roles as a wife and not their roles and statuses." As scholars we are completely disregarding any other positions women play within an society. Hence demeaning a the women's critical role in the development of it's people and community.

I also found it extremely interesting that Molara Ogundipe-Leslie asserts she does not see herself as "black"
