Similar to a bothersome sibling, grammar is something that all ages of people have had to deal with throughout their lives. Whether it was taught in middle school or in college, it is something everyone needs to know, despite what the growing census might say. As time goes on more and more technology is being introduced in schools as well as more slang and abbreviations to being invented and said by the youths. With all this change happening daily, old school teaching like grammar are being questioned more and more each day. Leaving teachers and bosses to try and explain why they are still important in society.
It might seem like it is common knowledge to think of grammar as an old school teaching, mainly because of all the changes in language and the constant influx of technology. But contrary to popular belief, you need proper grammar in order excel in life and to be hired in high-level jobs. Contrary to how a person in school or in public may say, grammar is a skill that could give you a better job, a better education, and a better life. It's not just some useless thing being taught in school, it has a purpose to educate and to help guide you to good things. For example, reading and writing would be something that would improve exponentially if you were to use grammar more as a skill. “A good writer is always a good reader. Good writing also suggests clear thinking and good work ethic” (John McWhorter). It's common sense that being good at something would always help your more than hurt you, so learning as many skills as you can, seems to be a very good idea, plus, there are many careers that come with being a good writer and
