A society where everybody has no choices, no decisions, everything’s the same every day is completely different than today’s modern society. The dystopian society in The Giver is very different from today’s modern society, but that doesn’t mean everything is so rough. In today’s society, every human being has the free will to decide whether they’re going to make that choice or not. In The Giver’s society, everyone must do as told. If Jonas’s father is told to “release a baby” he will release that baby. They can’t choose the job they want, they get told what their job is. People today have the choice
