A few short years after the Revolutionary War, the new United States fought a second war for independence against the British Empire called the War of 1812 after the year that it began. As the war approached the US was disorganized especially because of the struggle between Federalists and Anti Federalists. It also separated the South and West from the New England because while the first two were in favor of the war, New England was against it to the point that they almost seceded. These were seen during the war itself because of the failed three point attack at the beginning and the poorly trained soldiers and ancient generals. Towards the end of the war, the U.S.A. united into a nation. This nationalism had political results like an expanded military, a rebuilt capital, and a strengthened national bank. It also had many social effects like schoolbooks being written by Americans for Americans and new American literature. While the South and the West were in complete favor of the war, the North was not interested. They prospered from the trade with British and the war disrupted this. Also the Federalists were angry and talked about New England seceding. They marched on Washington, requesting many things like monetary help and also new policies to be instated about the vote when new states or wars were started.
