The Sports industry is and always will be an ever growing industry , it is backed by enormous consumer demand. in tis paper i want highlight the diffrence of sports in relation to other industries. to start of lets focus on a bit of sports history . In the U.S sports is one of the largest industries ; its worth can be compared to the movie , music , and other larger industries.The growth in the sports industry closely follows the quick expansion in the entertainment , industrial , and technological advances . our need to understand the unexplainable has led us to build churches, and temples to worship god and gods . church members funded these constructions that define us Notre Dame in Paris, the Taj Mahal in India, the Blue Mosque , Pyramids in Cairo. And in our new generation These religious monuments are being replaced by stadiums and arenas, where we worship a new type of god gods like Jordan, Brady,Brees and my man Wilfork . apart from the massive scyscrapers the most distinguishing feature of many city skylines are their stadiums. back in the times of Coliseums where masses would gather to watch gladiators and chariot races. and now in out time where we have superbowls that tens of millions would view these god's perform in their homes , and large corporations pay up to $700k to advertisefor 30 seconds of commercial …show more content…
we have capitalistic society, no biggy because its what this country is built on our forefathers the ones who wrote the laws had an idea for a complketely free nation this lead to monopolistic like industries , entertainment demand are going up for evidence look at the larger stadiums, larger tv viewer numbers , higher ticket prices and greater demand for seats , and this larger demand constantly drives up prices. to the point where It is difficult to create rivals to the existing sports leagues, organizations like the USFL,AFL, etc have tried and have failed . Because of these monopolistic situations sports like Baseball has even been granted an exemption from antitrust regulation the leagues and team owners set prices , In 1970, we had the Curt Flood ruling, where free agency has altered the playing field between player contracts. what happened was Flood sued the MLB claiming that by trading him,without his knowledge , had violated the antitrust
