Do people know that Hollywood writers and directors have the social responsibility to avoid stereotyping ethnic characters? It seems that this kind of issue in the movies industry is already happening since day one. The majority of roles that are offered to Asians are limited and it is easy to get noticed on being stereotype because of it. Given the best roles, there always some big issue about it. Jessica Hagedorn asks in her article, “Why do movies always seem to portray Asian women as tragic victims of history and fate?” Frankly, a lot of people noticed how they always put Asian women with this kind of role. The writers and directors are the ones who have the control to make their movies entertaining. They have the power what will happen to the story and the power to what role they will to the actors and actresses they have chosen to the movie. Other people will recognize how the inequality are being given to the Asians when it comes to what will they do in the movie. Secondly, the reason why Hollywood writers and directors have a social responsibility to avoid stereotyping ethnic character is the ability to choose the main character. Hollywood writers and directors are responsible for stereotyping Asians and other ethnicities. They are the ones who gives the role to the actors and actresses for the movies. For example, a role that originated to Asian character but end up going to the white actors. Lastly, the reason why Hollywood writers and directors have a social responsibility to avoid stereotyping ethnic character is creating bad stereotypes to offend people. Writers and directors have the power to avoid people Asian and other ethnic group from getting offended on how they do their movies. It is their fault if people will stop watching what movies they will produce if they won’t stop stereotyping Asian and other ethnic group by giving the role they do not fit
