The United States of America should annex Hawaii to their country. First of all, annexing the island of Hawaii means that the government could get more profit from their businesses. Another reason to annex Hawaii is because there can be more power for the government. Lastly, annexing Hawaii to the U.S. could stop anti-annexationist from protesting and committing illegal acts. Adding Hawaii to the U.S. territory, gives us many benefits for the government.

Hawaii has given the opportunity to the U.S. government to make a substantial amount of profit, which is an incredible reason for bringing annexation to Hawaii. Queen Lili’uokalani has already had enough problems about having insignificant amount of power in the kingdom caused from the Bayonet Constitution that King David Kalakaua that was forced to sign it, in 1887. When she came to throne, there was an economic conflict, which was the McKinley Tariff. According to, “The McKinley Tariff allowed sugar from all countries to enter the United States duty-free. The provisional government planned to overthrow Queen Lili’uokalani. Although Queen Lili’uokalani was overthrown from the Hawaiian Kingdom, someone had to lead the kingdom, therefore the provisional government took control, which was made up of mostly American people. Provisional government has the same exact power as a regular government, however they have the authority for a limited amount of time. According to, “The new administration sent a commission, headed by Lorrin A. Thurston, to Washington to make a treaty of annexation with the United States.” The reason for their plan to add Hawaii, was to keep their powers and to prevent their authority to die out.
