They also make sure that the Operating rooms are sterile environments.Working as a surgical technologist may ask for a lot of standing standing for long periods of time. The hours that they work are 40.which may require work weekends and nights may be required which is part oftheir job , and all of the surgical technologists may have to be on-call if their is urgent emergencies that need surgeries.

There are two councils that technician can certify under certify surgical technologists. One is the Liaison Council for the Certification of the Surgical Technologist, which have awarded the CST which is designed (Certified Surgical Technologist) upon passing the exam. However most this one must graduate at an accredited surgical technologist school to tomeet the requirements for the exam. However they could become lead assistants which is a lead role on the operating team which is known as the surgical first assistant which works with surgeon which is more responsibilities. Their is another role that duties include helps interview the patients before the they go to surgery and after they come from surgery and they assist with anesthesia
Most, some surgical technologists may move up to the lead role on the operating team, known as the "surgical first assistant". The surgical first assistant stay very close with the surgeon, taking on some additional responsibilities. Another advanced role to work towards is as a circulator.y According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the circulatory helps interview the patient when they come in and after they leave surgery and may also assist with anesthesia.
