These technological advancements include the national telegraph, railroad networks, steamships, and electrical power which then led to more efficient industrial machinery and subways. These advancements and inventions were possible because of the increased application of science in Universities and laboratories. Other technological advancements and inventions that were developed or made during this time period include telephones, typewriters, adding machines, sewing machines, cameras, elevators, and farm machinery.
