According to the textbook, the terror management theory “…suggest that the fear of death creates existential anguish that underlies much of human motivation” (Baumeister & Bushman, 2014). The article given describes the terror management theory as “…the idea that reminders of death increase the need for psychological security” (Sheldon Solomon, Jeff Greenberg, & Tom Pyszczynsk, 2004). The terror management theory also proves itself to be very relevant to politics.
