The time required to charge an electric car, even at Level 3 charging, is far from ideal as it ranges between 30 mins- 45 mins to go from 0% to 80%. Hypothetically, it would be better to switch out the dead battery for one that is fully charged. The car company, Tesla Motors, has already introduced battery swapping technology for the Model X and Model S cars. The average time to swap batteries would take approximately only a minute and a half which is not only a significant difference in time from level 3 charging but also twice as fast as it would take at a regular gas station.
