THE CENTRAL OF THE EDUCATION-FAMILY EDUCATION
We have entered an era of fast-paced life based on education. Different cultures have different styles of education, and many of them have spread from a long history. Paulo Freire describe it as “banking education” (Freire 318). He says, “ Education thus becomes an act of depositing, in which the students are the depositories and the teacher is the depositor” (Freire 318). Freire is really disgusted with the banking education, because he thinks it limit the students’ mind. The students just like the depositories and the teacher just save their knowledge into the students’ brain that they think are right. Therefore, Freire propose a new way to educate students- “problem posing method” (Freire 324). He thinks, “In this way, the problem-posing educator constantly reforms his reflections in the reflection of the students” (Freire 324). It is really innovative in the history of the education. Because it will change the relationship between teachers and students.
The banking education and the problem posing method have conflicted with each other for a long time, but they still cannot win in this game. The reason I guess is not about themselves, it is about the target of the education- students. In my opinion, no matter what kind of education you have, hard-working students with a purpose can get what they want. Therefore, I think the problem is how to make students realize the importance of the knowledge, if they can solve that case, it will be easy to study any kind of knowledge whatever the style of education. The best way to inspire students to do well in school is through family education. Whether a student is enrolled in banking education or problem posing method, the family provides the foundation for an academic career. Because there are almost more than half of a day we are stay with our parents, and this kind situation is keep almost eighteen years in our life, every single action of our parents can influence our mind and action in the future. Hence, if we can hold the family education very well, the biggest problem is solved.
Only in the state does man have a rational existence
Paulo Freire has a very talent idea about the education. “banking” education is really vivid for the traditional education. In his essay, “ The ‘banking’ concept of education” has mentioned, “The teacher presents himself to his students as their necessary opposite; by considering their ignorance absolute, he justifies his own existence” (Freire 319). Above is the opinion of the author for the traditional education. He believe that the traditional education has a big problem that the students cannot think their own things but only the things from the teachers. And Freire also gives out his solution, “ Education must begin with the solution of the teacher-student contradiction, by reconciling the poles of the contradiction so that both are simultaneously teachers and students” (319). Freire thinks that the main problem is the relationship between the teachers and the students. Based on the idea, he create a new way to study- “problem posing method”. That is a way the author described, “ Students, as they are increasingly posed with problems relating to them selves in the world and with the world, will feel increasingly challenged and obliged to respond to that challenged” (324). The students will achieve their goals by “problem posing method” and feel different with the traditional education.
However, Freire missed a key thing- Only in the state does man have a rational existence. No one can say yes or no to those two kinds of education. They both have their reason to exist in the world. For example, I have studied in China for a long time by the banking education. In high school, we had six main courses and we had a big exam after three years, which we called “Gaokao.” It is similar to the SAT in the USA. The important
