Sitting on a cold hard bench, starving, just wanting something to eat. In the time of the holocaust each and every Jew would have lived in the harsh, unfair camps. Life was hard, rough, many people just wanted to stay alive. Books and stories, share a lot of characteristics, but some movies and or books leave some of the facts out. They forget to show some of the key points. Therefore there are a lot of similarities and differences in movies and their books.

The difference between the story and the book are so broad, there are so many. Many of the characters changed, or were not in the movie. Such as Rachel and all her friends, they were not in the movie. There were other kids in it, but they never made the, for sure point that they were Rachel and or her friends. Hannah's brother was not in the movie at all. Likewise Shmuel, he was the brother of Grace, but there was no Grace in the movie. Shmuel was supposed to get married to Fayge in the book, but in the move Fayge has a different name, a lot of the names change, there were also a lot of characters that were added to the movie such as Hannah's adorer, his name was not fully mentioned in the movie.Yishak and his kids were also in the story, but were not portrayed at all in the movie. Hannah's name also changed. In the novel they called her “Hiya” when she was in the movie they kept her name the same and called her Hannah.
In the beginning of the book Hannah starts off being around 12 or so years old, but in the movie she is around 17 years old. She is able to drive and is at a tattoo parlor. This flips the plot a little, because in the story she is portrayed as a young girl who is kinda clueless, she doesn't know what to do, but in the movie she is the one that takes charge. She shows everyone how it is done and tries to keep them working. She is the one who suggested on having the Seder at the camp. She was the one who opened the door for Elijah at the camp. She was the leader in the movie, whereas in the book she was a
