Imagine a world, where the only way to actually be living is to leave the community. A very talented author, Lois Lowry, wrote the book The Giver. Fearless Jonas, smart and strong, is in a community that he has to escape from. Jonas made the correct decision to take Gabriel and escape the community because he saved lives, informs the community, and saved himself from loneliness.
When Jonas escaped the community, he saved lives. One of them was Gabriel's'. '''It's bye-bye to you Gabe, in the morning,' Father said in his sweet sing-song voice''(115). Jonas found out earlier that anyone released would be killed. So, he took Gabe with him just so Gabriel wouldn’t be killed the next morning. After the entire time of having Gabriel live with Jonas' family, he was still voted for release. ''So, Father went on, 'we obviously had to make the decision. Even I voted for Gabriel's' release when we had the meeting this afternoon'''(164). Jonas knew immediately that he could not let Gabriel die, after seeing his father do the release earlier that day.

All of the people in the community deserve to have all of their memories whether good or bad. ''The Giver on his return, would find the community in a state of confusion and panic. Confronted by a situation they have never faced before'' (161). The people will soon realize everything, maybe it will be good, maybe it will be bad. Also, Jonas' parents don’t think love is an appropriate word to use because they don’t understand it. '''Do you love me?' Then Father chuckled. 'Jonas. You of all people. Precision of language, please!''' (127). If Jonas' parents don’t understand love, than how can they say it is not good language? Since all of the people once had the memories, don’t they deserve to have them
