The Aztec was once one of the most powerful tribes in Mesoamerica. They are mostly remembered for their horrendous human sacrifices, performed on people to please their gods. Even though they are remembered for the bad things they did, there are still some good things about them. From the human sacrifices, to the city they built on a lake, to the temples they created, the Aztec have one of the most interesting cultures in the world.

The Aztecs used slaves as main human sacrifices, which is why they were constantly at war with other tribes around Central Mexico. Human sacrifices were frequently sacrifices to the gods Tlaloc and Huitzilopochtli (Cartwright). The human sacrifice normally consisted of the victim's heart being torn out of the human body and then being decapitated. This was a very important ritual in order to bring peace with the gods, for if they did not do it, it could have been the end for the Aztecs.
The Aztecs had 3 social classes. They consist of the Nobles, Commoners and Slaves. Each of theses social classes would be inherited. The nobles were of the highest class which included the rulers, the eagle and jaguar warriors, the priests, and the rich Aztecs people. The commoner includes anyone that was in the middle class. The middle class included most of the merchants and farmers. The aztecs were hated by many tribe that were around them.They hated the aztecs because of the brutal sacrifices they use on them.They were also hated because if the war the aztecs cause.Hernan Cortes and the spanish used this hatred so they could destroy the aztecs.With all these advantages the spanish won on august 13 1521(Cartwright).The mighty aztecs empire would no longer be a mighty anymore.Even with all their might the aztecs could no longer hold their power.
