Progressive Era The progressive era was a time of big ideas, ambitious reforms, and agriculture was a heavy force to reckon with in the American economy. Urbanization and the larger volume of immigration was transforming the nation. The progressive era was from 1900-1917 more than 15 million Immigrants were coming to america from all over the world , especially form Italy, Poland, and Russia. A new wave also was included in the larger migration, they were Mexicans and Japanese who settled in the west. Between 1900 and 1917 immigrants and americans had a hard time adjusting. Even after Theodore roosevelt left office, Roosevelt continued to work for his ideals. The Progressive Party's New Nationalism in 1912 launched a drive for protective federal regulation that looked forward to the progressive movements.This brought the common man to believe that he was their ally. He said that both rich and poor should have equal rights. During one speech, he stated, "We must treat each man on his worth and merits as a man. Even thought people had different directions they believed in they all agreed that government should be actively involved in these reforms. The constitution system was outdated and needed improvement evolving social change, aided by scientific knowledge and the development of administrative bureaucracy. Most progressive wanted to build a society that monopolies were regulated in the public interest, they wanted voluntary association with the government to protect children, immigrants,poverty and protect the mental ill. Most new immigrants were Catholic or Jewish . The Irish and German seemed to have settle before the Italians. Having Irish and German catholic churches and German Jewish churches .
