If you stretch before exercising it can reduce your chances of injury during exercising. It can also “increase the range of motion of muscles and joints” (Baechle, & Earle, 2008, p.1). This type of stretching is called static stretching which is the most popular (Baechle, & Earle, 2008). By stretching it warms your muscles up, this can prevent you from pulling muscles. Anytime you plan on doing physically active you need to loosen your muscles and joints, this can keep you from injuring yourself during exercise. For any athlete, the amount of time they stretch is vital for the best results (Corbin, Charles, Welk, Corbin, William, Welk, & Karen, 2016).
