Technology is harmful to our society because it takes away from creativity, productiveness, and it causes our generation to become lazier. For an example, in the story “There Will Become Soft Rains” the house is controlled by computers. It cooks, cleans and takes care of every need that a family is assumed to have. This is showing that the family that’s supposed to be present has to do absolutely nothing to provide for themselves. The house is an alarm which wakes up the family. It also cooks for the family, cleans up the mess, and disposes the food. For an example, 3D printing. It’s the process of making a physical object into 3D form. These printers create useless things, and it’s bad for the environment and our wallets. Another disadvantage is that there are going to be a decreased amount of manufacturing jobs. People become more dependent on computers, phones, and cars. For instance, when the technology breaks, they feel as if they are disabled until it works again. This molds a person into becoming less self-reliant. When you’re dependent on technology (like calculators) it affects the way a student uses his/her brain. It also, reduces the level of creativity. Professor Ian Robertson, a neuropsychology expert based at Trinity College Dublin who carried out the study, said: “People have more to remember these days, and they are relying on technology for their memory but the less you use of your memory, the poorer it becomes.
