Throughout The Book Thief written by Markus Zusak, he profoundly uses thievery as a universal theme and motif in the novel. He writes about Liesel and Rudy joining a group of fruit stealers. This is her latest activity. Before this, she has stole a total of two books so far. Liesel’s action of stealing goes against her morals but the question is, is it ethical? During this time, food was scarce, but the amount was tolerable. Liesel, a ten year old girl with a rough history, will go against her good morals from time to time.
