I do agree with average citizens were responsible for westward expansion and Thomas Jefferson was responsible for westward expansion. Thomas Jefferson took Oath of Office and he was the third president of the United States. He had control over the westward expansion. He was in control over the citizens and what they do. Other people was also responsible for the westward expansion.

Morgan stated “The president at that time, who personified the passion for westward expansion, was Old Hickory, Andrew Jackson of Tennessee”. People wanted to expand the land of the West. In “Thomas Jefferson’s America, 1801” it states “Jefferson’s view on the trans-Mississippi western empire could serve as a vast reservation for Indians displaced from east of
