Rikki tikki is a courageous character in this story. For instance, “Rikki-tikki had sprung, jumped on the snake’s back, dropped his head far between his forelegs, bitten as high up the back as he could get hold, and rolled away” ( para #34 ). This shows that, Rikki-Tikki is courageous, because Rikki-Tikki could have gotten seriously hurt or died because Karait venom is very dangerous. Rikki-tikki's character trait shows that love can bring out courage, because Rikki-Tikki was protecting the ones he love by killing Karait and making sure the ones he loved was safe. To begin with, Nagaina lifted up her head and hissed, “you warned Rikki-tikki when I would have killed him. Indeed and truly, you’ve chosen a bad place to be lame in.” And she moved toward Darzee’s wife, slipping along over the dust.
This illustrates, That Nagaina is very mischievous because she states “ you warned Rikki-tikki when I would have killed him. Indeed and truly, you’ve chosen a bad place to be lame in”. Nagaina’s character trait is different to Rikki’s because Nagaina is very mean and wants to get revenge on Rikki-Tikki. Rikki-Tikki is very easy going and brave, but they both just want be protect the ones they love.
More importantly, in the text it states that “ Keep very still, all you three! If you move, I strike, and if you do not move, I strike.” This implies that, Nagaina is very mischievous because she scares the family into not moving a muscle. Rikki-Tikki and Nagaina character traits are similar because they both act that way to protect the ones they love and care for.
