Imagine being in these workers' shoes trapped in the factory as it went up into flames. This fire resulted in the deaths of 146, majority being female, immigrant workers. The fire was caused by a cigarette or match accidentally dropped on the eighth floor, and it quickly spread because the materials within the factory were flammable which caused the fire to spread rapidly, and the working conditions made it difficult to escape. During the fire, a significant amount of consequences occurred, such as unsafe, working conditions, which led to many of the casualties as workers were unable to escape quickly and safely.
