The book I chose to read was In Cold Blood, by Truman Capote. The book is about the viscous murder of a Kansas family and the investigations leading up to the killers being caught. In the book there is the two characters presented, Dick or Richard Hickock and his former penatary friend, Perry Smith, these were the two people that committed the Clutter crime. It describes the family members in great detail. The book describes the young girl, Nancy Clutter to be extremely busy and organized. She had a boyfriend, Bobby Rupp whom she was very close to. She also taught the children of her town and attended local club meetings. Her brother was Kenyon Clutter who was less social liked to spend his time crafting in their basement. The mother was very mentally ill and was not with it most of the time. Lastly the father pretty much worked a lot, he was known for his beautiful farm and his kindness to all of his employees. Once they break in they can not find a safe and tie the members up, Dick insisting there is a safe, after them not finding the safe they decide they better kill the family to fulfil the previous statement “no witnesses will be left behind”. No one knew about the murder until Nancy’s friend, coming over for a ride to church like they usually do notices that the house is oddly quiet and gets others to come inside with her, they later find the bodies and alert the authorities. At this point Dick and Perry are way out of town after following their plan to go to Mexico and live their, but when they get their with the little money they had stolen from forging checks they realized they are running low on money and that none of the jobs there pay enough to fulfil their needs, so they decide to go off to Florida where they stay for a few days and there they begin to run out of money as well and come all the way back to Kansas where they believe they will be able to find more
