The author of Tuesday of the Other June uses fiction to explore the issue of bullying and to help the reader understand what it is like in real life. People often bully others because the bully wants to feel like the bully is weak. Most bullying occurs when the bully wants to feel better about themselves so they do it through bullying. But sometimes, the bully just wants to be mean and wants the victim to feel bad. Some bullies are jealous of their victim so they bully their victim so they won’t feel so jealous about them. Bullying is when a person repeatedly hurts a victims physically or emotionally. For example, at school, there is a kid named Bob. Bob has a lot of trending toys that are also fun to play with. Many bullies feel mentally or physically weak about themselves and want to feel better about themselves so they bully others to feel power amongst themselves. The other June backed off when all June did was say, “No” repeatedly, press her fingers against the other June’s chest, and push the other June’s hands away, which means that the other June is weak hearted. Therefore, the other June bullies June all because the other June feels insecure about herself. Also, I can infer that the reason why June does not tell her mom about the bully is because she is afraid that her mom will think June is too mentally weak to deal with a bully herself. At the beginning of the story, her mom tells June about how they have enough troubles to get by and that she doesn’t need another trouble, so June might be afraid that her mom will be angry at June for giving her mom trouble and having her mom to help her solve the problem can be a pain in the neck. June feels too weak for herself so she does not tell her mom about it. June’s mom probably says that she has enough troubles and doesn’t need more because she doesn’t want June to get bullied and that it will help June know that she should stay away from bullies. June’s mom says, “keep your sweet self from fighting and all that bad stuff,” she June’s mom says that because she cares about June and wants June to be safe. But June feels like that's a demand and June thinks that if she tells her mom about getting bullied, June’s mom will be angry at how June disobeyed her demand about staying away from bad stuff. There is a misunderstanding between June and her mom. This is a realistic depiction of the issue because real-life bullying issues are similar to bullying issues like the one I talked about in this essay. Most real-life bullying issues have a bully who feels insecure about themselves
