There are a lot of loud cheers and tough situations to strive through in the adventures of Odysseus and Ulysses. Penelope and Penny, Odysseus and Ulysses, and the crew with Odysseus and the crew with Ulysses are some characters apart of those things. Between the movie, O’ Brother, Where Art Thou?, and the epic poem, Odyssey, there are many similarities and differences.
To start, Penelope and Penny share many similar and different parts in their character. One similar aspect is that their husbands are both gone and away from them for a period of time. Both crews are wanting to get something or somewhere. Odysseus and his men are on a hunt to get back home to Ithaca. Ulysses and his men are searching for what Pete and Delmar think is the treasure. With Odysseus being on the ship it was even easier for him because his men got stuck having to row the ship in their adventures to Ithaca while he ran everything else. “A thunderbolt from Zeus destroys their boat, and all the men drown” (786). The previous quote goes to show how it got a lot more intense for Odysseus because he lost all of his men and had to get to Ithaca alone when Ulysses had Pete and Delmar for the whole way with some bumps in their quest. In the end, both crews showed positive aspects and negative aspects that led them to similarities and
