Crime and Crime Causation
I want to first talk about the Uniform Crime Report and how it is used. The Uniform Crime Report has a database that keeps track of the crime that has been voluntary reported by the police. The uniform crime report is broken up into two parts. One is called the index offenses which categorize crimes such as criminal homicide, forcible rape, robbery, aggravated assault, burglary, and arson. The second part is called the other offenses which has 21 different crimes. This system is not as useful as the NIBS or the NCVS because it’s voluntary and if the officers are in a rush trying to submit the information, it can easily be inaccurate.
Secondly I want to talk about the National incident base report every time a crime has been committed, the police agency must report that particular incident. Both offenders and victims are reported to this system; As well as the place where the incident has happened. According to the NIBR, you can get specific information that is broken down in several different categories.

This survey was develop by the Census Bureau. This is a self - reported data. Groups are formulated and categorized they are then surveyed. The specific ones that are picked will be survey every six months for three years. This survey will ask people if they have been victimized before. A lot of people feel more comfortable explain what happen on paper then to another individual. Many people recall things that has happen in the past that have not been brought up. I personally like the NCVS more because the survey will help those that have been violated be more discreet with reporting something that they may have had a hard time with before in the
