There are many different needs that veterans have based on the challenges and difficulties that they face in their day to day lives. A veteran is any person that has served for any amount of years in any military service branch, which includes the Air Force, the Navy, the Marine Corp etc.. Many veterans, especially older generations, were soldiers in different wars during their service time. Because of some of the things that veterans go through while they are serving in the military, it is important to have organizations and programs in place that will help them once they retire. Depending on the situation, some veterans will need physical help, financial help, or even mental help. Luckily, there are many different groups that were founded specifically aide veterans in these certain situations. Some might not think that having these organizations in place is that a major deal, but there are many veterans here in Tucson that could benefit from such programs. …show more content…
As of 2013 there were 522,382 veterans in Arizona and 41,446 veterans in Tucson. This shows that even though it may not seem like it, veterans make up quite a large portion of the population in both Tucson and Arizona. Things such as jobs and education are hard to come by for veterans of all ages. It has been proven that there are more non-veteran citizens with a bachelor’s degree than veterans with a bachelor’s degree. The exact percentages were 30.3% of non-veterans had a bachelor’s degree while only 27.2% of veterans have the same level education. In terms of income, an average veteran gets about $37,307 annually. Finally, there are 7 million out 7.4 million veterans that were employed as of 2014. Some of these statistics look to be beneficial while others seem to put veterans at a disadvantage, but either way not all veterans have a job, education, or even a place to
