Some people believe they understand what a veteran is but most do not know what the true meaning is. A veteran is a person who has had a long experience in a particular field. A veteran is someone with many talents and aspects. These talents and aspects are put to the test throughout many occasions. Today I will be informing you on how these people help save and keep this country safe, why they are special, and inform you on some problems veterans face.
As of 2014, there are a total of 21.8 million veterans of the U.S. armed forces. The 21.8 million people all risk their lives, and their families’ lives to insure that others have a safe and healthy world to live and prosper in. Many believe that this is a man’s job but it is not. 10% of veterans

Not only for the sacrifices that they make for us but also how they endure the pain and treat others. A veteran goes into battle after battle ignoring the pain that has forecame them and only focusing on the enemy and justice. After all this pain and suffering a veteran comes home to their family to show the utmost care for them and others around them. A veteran is tough, courageous, caring, and brave. They are all around great people that deserve more than just one day to show how great they are to this country and the individuals that abide in it.
Although veterans get rid of a lot of problems in this country, they also receive some. Veterans face a disorder called Post- traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). To put in perspective, one in every ten Afghanistan veterans face this problem, and every one and five Iraq veterans face this problem. Many veterans that come back home still feel and think like they are still in the war. Many veterans are scared and unhappy when they come home although they are safe. This is just one problem though. Many veterans are homeless and on welfare which is not
